The Maranta Fascinator, also known as the Prayer Plant, is a captivating species of tropical foliage that has been making a splash in the world of indoor gardening. Native to the Amazonian rainforests of Brazil, the Maranta Fascinator has adapted to its lush, humid environment by developing gorgeous green leaves with intricate patterns and a unique habit of folding them up at night, giving the appearance of praying hands.
It was discovered by the Dutch naturalist and physician Maraeus von Marina, who was so entranced by the plant’s beauty and unique behaviour that he named it in his honour. The Maranta Fascinator is still a popular choice for indoor gardening today for a good reason! Not only are these plants stunning to look at, but they are also incredibly easy to care for and make great houseplants.
They thrive in moist soil and warm, humid environments, and their love of humidity make them perfect for growing in the bathroom or kitchen, where they can soak up the extra moisture from the shower or cooking. They can grow up to 12 inches tall and wide with proper care, providing a beautiful pop of green to any room.
In the wild, the Maranta Fascinator grows in clusters on the forest floor, reaching up towards the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees above. With their striking foliage and unique behaviour, they are sure to captivate and charm anyone who comes across them. If you’re looking for a low-maintenance houseplant that brings a touch of the tropical rainforest into your home, look no further than the Maranta Fascinator!

Our organic indoor plant food is made from Seaweed, harvested sustainably. Seaweed provides aย delicate blend of growth hormones and micronutrients that is perfect for all indoor plants. Houseplantsย grow throughout spring, summer and autumn, so they will benefit from organic fertiliser during this time to encourage flowering and keep them healthy and well.ย
Suppose you have been searching for alternatives to blood, bone and other so-called โorganicโ fertilisers. In that case, our original organic Vegan Plant food isย for you and is sold exclusively through our website.
How often should I water?
The soil should never be allowed to dry out completely. Not enough water and overwatering can cause the leaves to turn yellow and drop from the plant. If the leaves begin to turn yellow, water the plant less often if the soil is still wet or more often if the soil appears dry between waterings.
Increase the humidity in the room with a humidifier, mist regularlyย or set a pan or dish filled with pebbles and water below the plant to increase the roomโs humidity, brown tips will show the humidity is too low
Are they suitable if you have pets?
Maranta are notย toxic to cats and dogs if nibbled.
