Araucaria Heterophylla (Norfolk Island Pine)

Norfolk Island Pine is a beautiful indoor conifer, its soft delicate needles add a calm element of nature to any room. Indoors this tree will do well in a bright position. To restrict the growth keep slightly pot-bound otherwise, it can grow to around 180cm and It also doubles up as an eco-friendly Christmas tree!

These plants aren’t hard to look after, they will thrive in bright or indirect light which makes them ideal if you have no experience of looking after houseplants. It also means they aren’t hard to situate in your home, they will love any corner of any room really, in the sun or in the shade.

Low maintenance and an excellent choice for anyone new to growing houseplants. This plant will thrive as long as it’s the soil is always kept damp (not soggy) and away from heat sources like radiators.

Where should I put this plant?

Araucarias like bright, indirect light, preferably a few hours of the direct morning or late afternoon sun.  It will though enjoy being outside in the warmer UK months as well so make a great and unusual patio or balcony plant but needs to be brought inside in winter. 

How should I water this plant?

Water when the top two inches of soil are dry, make sure you don’t overwater this plant but also don’t underwater, always keep the soil damp (not soggy). This is a tropical plant and loves humidity. 

Should I feed this plant?

Feed once a month in spring and summer with liquid plant food. Why not try our own vegan, organic plant food? 

Is this plant suitable if I have pets?

This plant is toxic to cats and dogs.
